Elektrificatie: betekenis
Electrification means the transition from fossil fuels to electricity. This process is currently in full swing in industry, but also in vehicles and construction machinery. The main purpose of electrification is to reduce CO2 emissions. But there are other advantages too: electrically powered machines are generally more efficient, quieter, and cheaper to maintain. By electrifying your machines, you also have fewer emission restrictions and demonstrate your corporate social responsibility.
Elektrificatie in Nederland
The Netherlands has ambitious goals when it comes to electrification. It is working towards a climate-neutral industry in 2050, for example. In the shorter term too, up to 2030, major steps must be taken. The targets are set out in the electrification roadmap (more on this in the next paragraph). But the Netherlands is not only making efforts to electrify industry; transport and construction equipment must also become emission-free as soon as possible. Various subsidies are available for this purpose.
Routekaart elektrificatie
Hoe de transitie van fossiele brandstoffen naar elektriciteit vorm moet krijgen, staat beschreven in de routekaart elektrificatie. De routekaart is opgesteld door TKI Energie en Industrie, DNV, TNO en verschillende belanghebbenden. Naast concrete doelen en een stappenplan is in de routekaart onder meer vastgelegd hoeveel extra elektriciteit nodig is om de industrie en het transport op elektriciteit te laten overstappen, én hoe deze opgewekt moet worden. Verder wordt er in de routekaart gepleit voor meer innovatie, opschaling, en de verlaging van risico’s en kosten.
Elektrificatie van de industrie
De elektrificatie van de industrie is een grote stap naar minder CO2-uitstoot. De industriesector is namelijk verantwoordelijk voor meer dan 20 procent van de totale uitstoot in Nederland. De industrie draait nu nog voor een belangrijk deel op fossiele brandstoffen als olie, kolen en aardgas. Om elektrificatie snel in gang te zetten, werkt de overheid samen met elektriciteitsbedrijven, netbeheerders en de industrie. Elektrificatie kan zowel door bestaande machines op brandstof om te bouwen naar elektrische, als door het aanschaffen van nieuwe elektrische apparatuur. Naast elektrificatie wordt gewerkt aan het verduurzamen van de industrie door gebruik te maken van groene waterstof.
Elektrificatie van auto’s
Het elektrificeren van auto’s is al in volle gang. Mede door de technische vooruitgang en aantrekkelijke subsidieregelingen groeit het aandeel van elektrische auto’s, bedrijfswagens en vrachtwagens hard. Steeds meer benzine- en dieselauto’s worden vervangen als ze aan het einde van hun levensduur zijn. Zo is het elektrificeren van het wagenpark een geleidelijk proces. De elektrificatie van je wagenpark kan ook door bestaande auto’s om te bouwen. Dit is relatief echter vrij duur en omslachtig.

Electrification is a big issue in the construction industry. After all, the environmental regulations for the construction industry are becoming increasingly stringent. In order not to lose out on contracts and to contribute to achieving the climate targets, electrification of construction equipment such as cranes, excavators and concrete mixers is an excellent solution. This is possible for both new and existing machines. Changing your fleet from diesel to electric will reduce your costs and give you a competitive edge.
